Terms of sale

What you are agreeing to.

Plain English, because you should be able to read this once and know where you stand.

1Who you’re buying from

GolfScreen is a trading name of IOK-1 Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales.

  • Company number: 17028312
  • Registered office: 3rd Floor, 86–90 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4NE
  • Email: info@golfscreen.co.uk

We are not currently registered for VAT, as our turnover is below the registration threshold. Prices therefore include no VAT element. We will update this page if that changes.

2What we make

Every screen is made to order, to the measurements you give us. There are no standard sizes and nothing is made in advance.

This means two things follow, and they run through the rest of these terms:

  • Your screen is cut and finished to your dimensions, so it fits your bay and nobody else’s.
  • Once we start making it, it cannot be unmade, resold or re-cut.

3Your measurements, and what we’re each responsible for

The dimensions you enter are the finished size of the screen — the cut size including the hem, not the opening in your frame. We cut oversize and hem down to the size you gave us.

We build to the numbers you give us. We have no way to check them. We do not visit your bay, we do not see your frame, and we cannot tell whether 3000mm is what you meant or what you mistyped.

Before you pay, we show you a scaled drawing with your dimensions on it and ask you to confirm it. That confirmation is what authorises us to make the screen to those dimensions.

So:

  • If the screen we deliver matches the drawing you approved, we have done what you asked. If the drawing was wrong, that is a new screen.
  • If the screen does not match the drawing you approved, that is on us. See clause 7.

We would rather you took an extra minute over the tape than had a screen made twice. There is a measuring guide if you want one.

4Price and payment

The price shown is the price you pay. Delivery is included, nothing is added at checkout, and nothing is invoiced afterwards.

On international orders, we pay any customs duty and import taxes. If a carrier ever invoices you for duty or import tax on an order from us, send it to us and we will settle it.

Payment is by card, in full, before we start making anything. We use Stripe to take payment and never see or store your card details.

5Making and delivering it

We make each screen to order, which takes two to four weeks. Once it is made, delivery is next working day in the UK and by air freight internationally.

Delivery times are our best estimate rather than a guarantee, and we are not liable for delays caused by couriers, customs or anything else outside our control. If something is running late we will tell you.

You will get a tracking number when it ships. Someone needs to be there to take delivery — tell us at checkout if there is a loading bay, a gate code or a time that works better.

If delivery fails because nobody was there, or the address you gave us was wrong, any redelivery charge is yours. We will pass on what the courier charges us, nothing more.

We may not be able to ship to every location. If we cannot reach yours, we will tell you and refund the order in full rather than leaving you waiting.

6Cancelling

Because every screen is made to your own measurements, you do not have the usual 14-day right to change your mind. That is the law for goods made to a consumer’s specification, and it is why we ask you to confirm the drawing before you pay.

In practice: once you have paid and confirmed the drawing, the order is firm.

If you spot a mistake and it is within the first hour or two, email info@golfscreen.co.uk straight away. If we have not started making it we will do what we can, but we are not obliged to and we cannot promise it.

This does not affect your rights if something is wrong with the screen. See the next clause.

7If something’s wrong

Email info@golfscreen.co.uk with a photo. That is the whole process.

Report any fault within 20 days of delivery. After that we may not be able to tell a manufacturing fault from ordinary wear, and a screen in daily use wears quickly.

We will replace or refund a screen that:

  • Does not match the drawing you approved
  • Arrives damaged
  • Has a fault in the material or the way it was made

Whether we replace or refund is our decision, based on the evidence you send us. In most cases a replacement is what you actually want.

We will not replace a screen that:

  • Was made correctly to dimensions that turned out to be wrong
  • Has worn from being hit by golf balls — that is the screen doing its job
  • Has been damaged by how it was fitted, tensioned or used

We do not offer a separate warranty, and we do not need to: your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 already require goods to be of satisfactory quality, fit for purpose and as described. Those rights last longer than any warranty we could offer and we cannot exclude them. Nothing in these terms tries to. What that means in practice.

If you are buying as a business rather than a consumer, your rights are those set out in these terms and under the Sale of Goods Act.

8How long a screen lasts

How long a screen lasts depends on how hard the bay is used and how well the screen is tensioned. A commercial bay running all day will wear a screen faster than a home build, and a slack screen wears faster than a taut one. Most commercial venues replace on a nine to twelve month cycle.

That is an observation, not a promise. Ball-strike wear is not a fault. More on how they wear.

9What we’re liable for

If we get something wrong, we will put it right — replacing the screen or refunding what you paid.

We are not liable for anything beyond that. Specifically not lost revenue, lost bookings, the cost of hiring a replacement, or any other indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability for any order is limited to what you paid for it.

Nothing here limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

10Fitting and safety

We supply the screen only. The eyelets, hems and pockets you chose are built into it — but the hardware they attach to is not. Bungees, hooks, battens and Velcro receiving strips are not included. Most venues already have them.

How the screen is fitted, tensioned and used is your responsibility. A screen being hit by golf balls at speed needs to be properly secured, and we are not liable for injury or damage arising from how it was installed or used.

11Your information

We use your details to make and deliver your order, and to contact you about it. Full detail in the privacy notice.

12General

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.

If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still applies.

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your order is the one published when you placed it.

Nothing here affects rights you have that cannot be signed away. If something has genuinely gone wrong at our end, tell us — we would rather sort it out than be right about a clause. info@golfscreen.co.uk, and you will get a reply from Matt or Hadley within one working day.
